Some states are not currently available for our franchise because of specific state laws. In many cases, these laws require wineries to grow a portion of their grapes within the state’s borders to qualify for a license. These restrictions limit opportunities for businesses like ours and, in our view, go against the Supreme Court’s decision in Granholm v. Heald, which prohibits states from favoring in-state businesses over out-of-state ones. We are actively working to challenge and update these outdated laws to expand our ability to bring Waters Edge Wineries to more communities across the country.
